Colts owner Jim Irsay arrested on Drunk Driving charges
The Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay is looking up to four counts of felony possession in relation to
drunk driving charges that he was levied with Sunday evening in the neighboring suburb of Carmel,
Indiana.
Irsay was released Monday afternoon and ordered to reappear in court on March 26 to face charges
that could lead to a longterm prison stint.
Police in Carmel, where Irsay resides, said that the Colts owner failed multiple sobriety test and that
multiple prescription drug pills were found in his vehicle. He was caught with Schedule IV drugs which
are in the family of Xanax, Ambien and Percocet.
Irsay has had well documented fights with sobriety in the past admitting an addiction to painkillers in
2002 after dealing with numerous foot surgeries. If convicted of these transgressions, Irsay could serve 6
months to 3 years on each count concurrently.
The Colts owner who has been known to interact with fans via Twitter, thanked all that supported him
upon his initial release. He also wrote on twitter in October that “he hadn’t had a drink in 15 years.”
