Dave Chappelle has slowly been edging his way back into mainstream’s graces. He headlined a “Funny or

Die” comedy tour, he has been making his rounds around the comedy scene and recently he sold out his

eight appearances at Radio City Music Hall. So, it was just a matter of time before he made his first Late

night guest appearance.

Chappelle talked with David Letterman about the 300 lbs. monkey on his back; the reason why he left

the “Chappelle Show” after Comedy Central offered him $50 million. He said he never left but he was

“extremely late to work”

When asked why he went to Africa, the comedian sarcastically replied, “There’s not too many good

hiding places left in America.”

He also addressed how he could leave 50 million dollars on the table. He implied that the lifestyle

difference between a person with 50 million and 10 million is miniscule but of course he would love to

have that money.

He also said that money was not the driving force in his decision to leave the Chappelle Show.
