Lupe Fiasco argues with Rosenberg about Kendrick Lamar
Lupe Fiasco came by Hot97 offices to promote his new single “Mission” and proceeded to get into an
argument with the morning show DJ Peter Rosenberg about if Kendrick Lamar is the best making music
right now.
Fiasco started off the war of words on an innocent question asked by Rosenberg about who were his
favorites to listen to right now. He listed Big Krit and Young Thug but when asked if he liked Kendrick, he
responded, “I’ve always been a fan, but I’m not a nut-hugger like you.”
The dialog got heated when Lupe cited people he lyrically looked up to out the new class. He cited Logic
and King Los and all mentioned battle rapper Hollow the Don when arguing who is the best lyricist.
Rosenberg responded that though these were great lyricist they did not put forth the body of work that
Kendrick did with “good kid m.A.A.d city”
Obviously the two could not find common ground as Lupe also named Cassidy as a better wordsmith
than the California rapper.
