Mariah Carey has been a transcendent diva throughout R&B history, stringing together countless #1 hits

and amassing a mountain of wealth beyond most people’s wildest dreams. So it was definitely a surprise

for some straphangers to see her boarding a train and having dialogue with most of the locals.

Carey, who recently released her 14 studio album, “ME. I AM MARIAH … THE ELUSIVE CHANTEUSE”,

debuted to mixed reviews, attended a Gala to benefit the Fresh Air Fund for underpriviledged youths.

After the festivities, Jermaine Dupri and the multi-platinum recording artist, can be seen mixing it up

with locals and even boarding a train in a full length elegant dress.

While Mariah appeared to enjoy the native New Yorkers, she was not a big fan of the muck and mire

that is usually roaming the city streets. You can hear the diva contrasting her own gown to the filth as

she walks gracefully to the subway.
